The Art of Letting Go: A Year-End Guide to Releasing and Resetting

Letting go of things that no longer serve you

is a skill that can radically transform your life.

Whether you are releasing physical objects or emotional issues,

there is no better time than the end of an old year and the beginning of a new one,

to shed the past and make space for the future!

Are you planning to declutter for the new year?

Let me know, reply to me here.

Decluttering is actually about a lot more than just creating physical space.

It’s also a key tool for manifestation AND an opportunity for spiritual growth.

There is an intrinsic relationship between decluttering

and aligning yourself with the life you dream of.

Believe it or not, manifesting is so much easier when you are not blocking it with all your ‘stuff’

– be that emotional, mental, physical, or likely a combination of all three.

Something magical occurs once we begin to declutter,

release and let go of things.

We learn about ourselves.

And I don’t just mean we remember why we kept all those old trinkets from ten years ago!

The releasing process actually enables us to confront some deep truths about ourselves,

such as:

  • Why we attach power to certain objects, and how we identify with a sense of value, identity and security through those objects.
  • How our clutter can represent procrastination and ways of avoiding things, and how we must address and shift those patterns and habits in order to declutter.
  • What matters to us and why, and how we can learn to let go of things in a mindful way.
  • What is truly important to us in our lives and how we can align with those values through the objects we decide to keep or let go of.

Clutter is also not limited to piles of books,

old phone chargers, and too many clothes.

Clutter can also include:

  • Unfinished creative projects and unfollowed dreams.
  • Unfulfilling relationships
  • Indecisive behavior.
  • Mental chaos in the form of negative thinking and victim mentality.
  • Bad time management and procrastination
  • Physical pain or addictions

What often happens is that once we work through the process of releasing physical clutter,

we actually create the motivation and impulse to release emotional and mental clutter too.

Let’s dive into the letting go process

Reflect on Attachments

Everything has a vibration,

from your favorite old pair of jeans to a beautiful painting.

You are the one that gets to decide if the vibration of any object

is something you wish to keep in your home or not.

Whether that object carries a vibration that you no longer need to have around,

or whether it gives off a frequency that you find still brings joy to your life.

This is your decision to make and yours alone.

Here are my tips to connect with your belongings

and decide what needs to be released and what can stay.

Ask yourself this question every single time you come across something you need to either release or keep.

What is important to me in my life?

Your answer is going to be very individual.

It might be your relationships and family.

Or creativity and travel.

Or health, money and happiness.

It might be all those things!

But once you know what is important to you in your life,

you can then ask:

Is this item still essential to me?

If it’s not essential and I still want it, why do I want it?

If you’re going to release something from your life,

you have to know why you don’t need it anymore.

To toss anything out, you have to consider what you feel is essential, and what isn’t.

What you are really asking yourself is:

What kind of life do you want to live?

What do you value?

And does this item align with that?

For example, maybe you know it’s time to get rid of an old coat you have

that you loved and wore for many years.

It may hold some good memories, but those memories are in your mind, not in the coat.

When you don’t have the coat with you, of course the memories will remain!

It is you that holds the power to bring those memories to life again

and smile about them, the power is in you.

Of course, sentimentality is no bad thing,

and there will always be objects we wish to hold onto, regardless.

You do not have to let of everything!

But it is worth remembering that releasing old energy

will create space for your dreams to manifest.

One last tip!

Try this before you are about to embark on a decluttering session.

Close your eyes for a few minutes and connect to the silence within.

Get in tune with yourself and the kind of vision you have for the coming year.

The more in tune you feel, the easier it will be for you to let go of what’s no longer needed.

Ask your higher self to guide you to the truth and to be able to decide quickly and effectively what you need to keep and what you need to let go of.

Happy decluttering!
