3 Tips To Adjust To Change

Are you facing new changes in your life? As they say, the only thing that is constant in this world is change. By that, it just means that no matter how much you avoid change or resist it, at some point, things will change and you will have no choice but to face it.

This month, it’s all about getting rid of old things and welcoming new ones. These are things that may not feel or be fun at first, but something that has to be done.

There are many reasons why many people have a problem making or adjusting to changes. For one, no matter how often you hear the word changed, it’s really an “unpopular” word that most people don’t want to associate themselves with. Resistance to change is a universal mindset, which invites dislike and tension.

Another reason is that most of us have a fear of the unknown. We resist what we cannot calculate or know the outcome for. Last but not least, it scares many of us to venture outside our comfort zones.

In this post, I will share with you some things that can help you adjust to the new changes in your life:

1. Find Humor In It

You can’t go wrong with a good sense of humor. Trust me—when the changes seem unbearable or every nerve in your body resists it, but as mentioned, it’s something that has to be done, find a funny moment in it. This is an effective way to create the levity you need to approach a problem from a new perspective. Humor can also lighten your mood and improve social interaction.

2. Change your mindset

Admit it, you love your comfort zone and there is nothing wrong with that. It becomes somewhat of a problem when you are too attached to it which is holding you back from growth. To tell you the truth, this is a normal reaction because the subconscious loves the familiar.

However, there will come a time when you need to step out of your comfort zone to embrace a new life—or something much better that will make you have a better life. It involves stepping into the unknown but be prepared for the resistance that comes with it. Remember that change is disruptive and will feel uncomfortable and scary, even if it is a good thing.

What will make a difference here is the power of your mind. Adopt a positive mindset that will help you become more resilient to deal with the impact that change will bring to your life.

3. Make A List Of Things You Are Afraid To Do, And Do Them Anyway

Change is scary because it will make you step out of your comfort zone into something new. Train your subconscious by stepping out of your comfort zone and doing scary things. Train it so much that you will believe that getting out of that zone and doing what scares you is a normal thing to do and see what happens.

Make it better by writing down the things you fear doing and do them one by one. It could be as simple as spending more time alone in public. Write them all down because this is the first step to letting go and embracing change in your life.

We all want to live a successful and happy life. To get there, we need to be proactive about how we adjust to the changes in our lives. Keep in mind that denial or resistance to change will only result in misery. So, be adaptable, resilient, and courageous.

Allow yourself to move with the changing times. It’s okay to be afraid, but don’t let it rule your life.

Embrace the changes and watch it make your life ten times better.
